The CCSS standards are broken up into 4 clusters: Reading, Writing,Speaking and Listening and language. These are broken down into smaller grade appropriate goals or clusters focusing on key ideas and details, craft and structure, integration of knowledge and ideas and range of reading and ideas. The importance of these reading and language goals reflect the importance of language in all aspects of life. Communicating effectively in speaking and writing are key to advancement in higher learning pursuits as well as employment.
